Dear congress participants, We are delighted to welcome you to our annual congress in Dresden. The future of radiation oncology care lies in tailored, technologically advanced treatments, taking into account the individual characteristics of tumors and normal tissues, as well as patient-specific factors. Forward-looking radiotherapy means the targeted use and continuous development of high-precision techniques, established symptom-relief methods, multimodal approaches considering radiogenic immunomodulation and individual tumor biology, and interconnected support options for our patients, such as AI-based radiation planning and optimized imaging. Such approaches bring increasing complexity, posing high demands on the training of all professional groups, the collaboration within radiotherapy teams, and cooperation between clinics and practices. As a team, we must seize the opportunity to further develop ourselves and our discipline for the best possible patient care. Such developments can only succeed together with our patients. How do patients weigh healing prospects against therapy side effects? How can we best inform them? How can studies and treatments be planned so that patients’ decisions are optimally considered? At DEGRO Congress 2025, we will highlight the ‘Radiation Oncology Team’ and demonstrate what we can achieve through cooperation and networking in oncology. The team concept will also guide the congress program, focusing on the perspectives of both patients and the diverse professions collaborating in radiation oncology. Look forward to a varied program featuring current study data, training opportunities, new technologies, and, above all, many opportunities for interaction.
