Dear colleagues, WE.LIVE.VISCERAL MEDICINE. At the 191st Annual Meeting of the Lower Rhine-Westphalian Society for Surgery and the 33rd Annual Meeting of the Society for Gastroenterology in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Visceral Medicine Congress in NRW will take place on June 12–13, 2025, at the Congress Center Essen Ost, and we want to motivate and invite you to join us! WE. We are gastroenterologists, but also nutritional medicine specialists, diabetologists, our valuable support staff, radiologists, obesity specialists, infectious disease experts, geneticists, laboratory doctors, the pharmaceutical industry, industry in general, and of course, students and all those who care about the abdomen. WE. We are all those from the NRW metropolitan region. We want to motivate and invite all of you! LIVE. We live our profession and our calling—better yet, we love our profession and our calling. We save lives! But we also sacrifice a part of our personal lives for it—day, night, weekends, holidays, 365 days a year. Two days a year belong to our continuing education in NRW. We LIVE these days as well. That's why we want to motivate and invite you all! VISCERAL MEDICINE. It is the last great cross-disciplinary specialty in medicine. We are not organ particularists, we take care of everything in the abdomen, and we do it together! Visceral medicine means gastrointestinal and interventional endoscopy, interventional hepatology, minimally invasive and oncological surgery, broad differential diagnosis, personalized therapy, oncology, abdominal 'feeling,' steady hands, ultrasound, microbiome, genetics, artificial intelligence, robotics, digitization, and constant innovation. VISCERAL MEDICINE. It is also the constant confrontation with medical and professional-political topics, the outpatient and hospital health system, planning personal life, and chronic challenge and overload. All these topics will be part of the congress. We want to motivate and invite you all! WE.
